Many people have specific requirements for high temperature resistance when choosing silicone products. Although silicone material is one of many synthetic rubbers with good temperature resistance, there may still be some problems when using silicone plugs in different fields and environments. Therefore, the temperature resistance of silicone plugs needs to consider different types of silicone materials for different products and application fields.
According to different industries, different silicone plugs can be roughly divided into several types. It is limited by the temperature resistance of the silicone itself. For through-hole silicone plugs, through-hole silicone plugs, and countersunk thread high-temperature rubber plugs, the application fields of the three are different. Therefore, due to the different material and thickness of the product, the temperature resistance effect is also different, and the selection of through-hole rubber plugs is more standardized.
The best way is to use fumed silica to increase the density of the feedstock. But the difference in blind hole and thread type is due to the difference in shape and structure. Exposure to high temperatures results in faster induction, resulting in relatively low high temperature effects for both products.
through hole
Through holes mean that the product is well connected, the structure is simple, and the wall thickness is not complicated, while the blind hole and threaded silicone plug products have uneven structure and complex structure, so the sensitivity to high temperature can also improve the heat exchanger. However, the principle is still within the high and low temperature resistance range of silicone rubber products. Typical test temperatures are around -40°C to 230°C. But with the structural characteristics of silicone rubber products and the characteristics of raw materials, this limitation may be prominent to achieve better temperature resistance.
Specification selection of high temperature resistant rubber plugs and high temperature resistant silicone plugs for through holes: Generally speaking, high temperature rubber plugs for through holes are a better choice, because the specifications of through holes are relatively standard holes (British or American), and the market The specs are just right, built to Anglo-American standards, so it’s easy to get hold of. Just pay attention to whether the workpiece hole to be protected requires a single- or front-side coating. If it is a single-sided coating, just select the size of the screw hole covered by the coating before compounding. If it is painted on both sides, it is recommended to use suitable high temperature resistant rubber plugs and high temperature resistant silicone plugs for shielding protection on both sides.
Blind hole
It is worth noting that blind holes with high temperature resistant rubber plugs and high temperature resistant silicone plugs are selected. When purchasing blind holes with high temperature resistant rubber plugs, you only need to pay attention to the depth of the blind holes. The deeper the blind hole, the better. It is required that the size of the small head of the high-temperature silicone plug must be at least 1mm smaller than the diameter of the screw hole and other parts, and the size of the large head must be 1-2mm larger than the diameter of the screw hole of the protected part. Depending on the depth of the tapped hole, the required dimensions will vary. (The above data is for reference only).
screw hole
Use high temperature resistant rubber plugs and high temperature resistant silicone plugs for countersunk head screw holes: It is difficult to choose shielding protection for countersunk head screw holes in electroplating. The main reason is that the size, depth and taper of the countersunk screw holes are different, and general suppliers do not have standard specifications to choose from. Such workpieces are usually shielded and protected with high temperature stickers. In addition, the high-temperature rubber stopper and the high-temperature silicone stopper are both custom-made by opening the mold.
