What is a CPAP?

CPAP refers to the Continuous Positive Airway Pressure System, which is a commonly used home medical device for patients with dyspnea or unable to breathe spontaneously. In principle, it assists breathing by applying air to the patient’s airway. This allows more of the surface area of the lungs to participate in breathing, while the user can breathe in sync during the process.

CPAP is indicated for the following patients:

1. Sleep apnea syndrome, CPAP is effective for patients with obstructive, central, and mixed sleep apnea syndrome, and can be used in the family for a long time. In addition, patients with severe sleep apnea syndrome before surgery, or patients with severe sleep apnea syndrome caused by hypothyroidism, before thyroxine replacement therapy, can be treated with continuous positive airway pressure for a short period of time, which can improve patients with resistance syndrome. , and can also be treated with CPAP.

2. Patients with chronic bronchitis, emphysema, and cor pulmonale can use CPAP for rehabilitation after an acute exacerbation, respiratory failure, or stable condition.

3. Respiratory failure in critically ill asthmatic patients can also be treated with CPAP.

CPAP Masks

CPAP Masks are one of the important CPAP components. It is a part of the CPAP machine that is in direct contact with the human body. Generally speaking, it is mainly made of medical liquid silicone and other materials.

1. Nasal mask

A nasal mask only covers the nose. It directs the flow of compressed air into the nasal passages.
The nasal mask can withstand higher pressures than other CPAP masks. This makes it an excellent choice if you need a higher pressure setting.

2. Full face mask

Full-face CPAP masks work the same way as nasal masks deliver air, but with the difference that they cover your oral and nasal passages. This is ideal if you breathe through your mouth or have limited airflow through your nose.

Full-face CPAPs also provide high-pressure airflow, making them ideal for severe sleep apnea.

3. Nasal pillow mask

CPAP Pillow, also known as CPAP Nasal Pillow, Nasal/Nasal Pillow, or Pillow Mask, is the least invasive CPAP machine, it is lighter than nasal and full-face CPAP machines and is suitable for patients with mild apnea syndrome.

Medical grade liquid silicone rubber

Liquid silicone rubber has excellent biocompatibility. It can significantly reduce the risk of allergic reactions in patients receiving treatment.

The microscopic environment of the surface is very special, and it is almost impossible for bacteria and fungi to grow and spread on it. Therefore, it is one of the project materials for medical implantation.

The material is elastic, light-transmitting, wear-resistant, and has high stability under high temperature and ultraviolet light irradiation. Devices made of liquid silicone rubber can be adapted to high-pressure sterilization in medical treatment.

Permanently resistant to compression set and highly malleable. Can be made in different thicknesses and structures as required.
